Rohde was a skilled furniture designer who famously defined and re-launched Herman Miller in the 1930s. Rohde introduced modernist designs to a large number of US furniture makers, including Widdicomb, Heywood Wakefield, and Herman Miller. His works are represented in many museum collections, including the Brooklyn Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and the Vitra Design Museum.
