The studio endured throughout the rise of fascism, WWII, and the loss of Gianlugi Banfi, who was held in the Mauthausen concentration camp, where he died in 1945. The studio flourished in the 50s and 60s, working on many public and private institutions throughout Italy until the mid 90s.
B.B.P.R. championed a humane modernism, which rejected the cold formalism of fascist architecture. The studio created buildings which incorporated mythology and ornament, and furniture the cleverly blended angular and classical lines. Their designs have become highly collectible.
